Electric Sander Safety


Before you start...
  • Make sure you have enough room to work
  • Make sure you are wearing the proper safety equipment and suitable clothing (see above)
  • If you need to plug in the sander, make sure the switch is off while you plug it in
DO’s and DON’T’s
  • DO - Use your free hand to hold the piece of wood you are sanding secure.
  • DO - Keep the sander moving in a slow, anti-clockwise motion
  • DON’T - keep the sander in one spot while it is on, as you can burn through the paper if it is in the same spot for too long.
  • DON’T - Press hard with the sander onto your work
  • DO - keep your hand away from the sander - don’t sand your hand!!
  • DO - when sanding edges, make especially sure to keep the sander moving, as otherwise the paper will overheat and burn.
